South Korea Life

Family Relationships

Traditionally, Koreans are proud of their good relationship among family members. We think that respect for the elder is the most noble attribute of Korean society. Elderly people give advice to the younger generation, and the younger people submit to the elder’s wise advice. Korean families are called a “small society.” They feel a strong responsibility about bringing their home as a part of the social educational center. Although the idea of individualism and economic growth brings family division, most Koreans don’t forget that the family is the most important group for themselves as well as for the country. There are still many extended Korean families who live with three generations. Many first born sons feel their responsibility of taking care of their parents.

Religion

The religion in south Korea is a variaty of Christianity, Buddhism, Shamanism, Confucianism.

I think they all get along perfectly and all go hand-in-hand, and sing campfires song, while dancing to Genie

I didn’t think so.

Goguryeo

Emerged on the north and south banks of the YaLu River, in the wake of Gojoseon’s fall. Goguryeo, eventually the largest of the three kingdoms, had several capitals in alternation: two capitals in the upper YaLu area, and later Nangrang which is now part of Pyongyang. At the beginning, the state was located on the border with China; it gradually expanded into Manchuria and destroyed the Chinese Lelang commandery in 313. The cultural influence of the Chinese continued as Buddhism was adopted as the official religion in 372

The Ko Chosen

The people of Ko Choson or the  kingdom of Korea are recorded as Tong-i, “eastern bowmen” or “eastern barbarians.”  The propagated in Manchuria, the eastern littoral of China, areas north of the Yangtze River, and the Korean Peninsula.  The eastern bowmen had a myth in which the legendary founder Tan-gun was born of a father of heavenly descent and a woman from a bear-totem tribe.  He is said to have started to rule in 2333 B.C., and his descendants reigned in Choson, the “Land of Morning Calm,” for more than a millennium.
